Setup Amazon SES Account – Send Cheaper Emails
MailGet – email service provider connects with Amazon SES to send emails. So you need to set up an Amazon SES account before starting using MailGet.
Once your SES account is created you will have to generate your IAM credentials i.e. your unique Access Key ID and Secret Access Key and enter those credentials in MailGet’s settings panel.
Also you will have to get your email id verified to send emails through it. After verifying it, this too will have to be entered in the same panel. Now you are powered to send unlimited emails through MailGet.
The step by step procedure to setup an Amazon SES account, verifying your email id and generating IAM credentials is explained in detail below.
Steps To Setup Amazon SES Account
Step 1. Open AWS Amazon SES To Sign in:
Open aws.amazon.com/ses and click on “Sign in to the console” button.
Step 2. Create An Account :
On the page appeared, you will have two options either to sign in or to create an account.
If you already have an amazon.com account simply enter your email ID, select”I am a returning user and my password is” option and enter password.
If you are a new user enter your email ID and select the “I am a new user ” option. Now click on “Sign in using our secure server” button.
Step 3. Enter Login Credentials :
Now on this Login credentials page enter your name, re-type your email ID and a password. Now click on “Create account” button. You have now successfully registered an AWS account and only a simple 5 step process of filling contact information, payment information, verification, selection of support plan and confirmation is left.
Step 4. Enter Contact Information :
When you click on “Create account” button you will be redirected to a page asking for contact information.
There you need to fill your basic information like your name, your company’s name, your country, your address, your city, state, postal code, and your phone number.
This will be followed by a security check where you will have to enter the captcha. Now put a tick on the AWS customer agreement (after reading it properly) an click on “Create account and continue” button.
Step 5. Enter Payment Information :
Now on the payment information page enter your credit card number and expiration date followed by card holder’s name. Here you also have a choice of selecting your billing address; choose your billing address and click on “Continue” button. As shown below:-
Step 6. Identity Verification :
The next step will be identity verification where you have to provide your phone number and then click on “Call me now” button. You will get a 4 digit verification code and will receive an automated call simultaneously. Enter this code through your phone.
Then you will see a window confirming your verification. In that window click on “Continue to select your Support plan” button.
Step 7. Select Your Plan :
Now on this page select your plan according to your utility and click on “Continue” button.
Step 8. Confirmation Page :
Now a confirmation window will appear where you will see a “Launch management console ” button. Click on “Launch management console” button.
Step 9. Click on SES (Simple Email Service) icon :
Click on the SES icon as mentioned in below image to start with email services.
Step 10.Email Address Verification:
Once you click on SES , go to “Email Addresses” to verify the email address from which you need to send emails notifications via Mailget.
Now you have to verify your email address from which you will be sending emails to people. For this click on “Email Addresses” button on the dashboard.
Click on “Verify a new Email Address” button, enter your Email address and click on “Verify this Email Address” button.
Now your verification status will be pending untill your email address is verfied.
Click on the verification link sent to your email ID and verify the email address.
Step 12. Generate IAM Credentials :
The last step is to generate your IAM credentials. To do this, from the management console click on “IAM” button.
Now here click on “User” and then on the “Add User” button.
Type MailGet in the User name field and select the access type as Programatic Access, then click on the “Next: Permissions” button.
On the page appeared click on the last option “Attach existing policies directly”. In the search box search for SES and select AmazonSESFullAccess.
Now click on Next:Review button and then Create user on the next page.
You will receive Success message on the next screen.
Now you have successfully created an SES account, generated Access Key ID and Secret Access Key, verified your email address and got MailGet full access to Amazon SES.
Step 13. Add IAM Credentials to MailGet account :
Click the link below to goto MailGet Amazon SES settings page.
Add the above generated Access key ID and Secret Access Key to you MailGet account to integrate your Amazon SES account with your Mailget account.
Note: The Access key ID and Secret Access Key can only be used once.We need to repeat the IAM process to get new ID and Key to use them next time.
Step 14. Setup for Bounce and Spam Complaint Notifications:
On Amazon AWS console management home screen, go to SNS and then click on Get Started.
Click on Create topic link.
Give Topic name as bounce_complaint and display name as bounce. Click on create topic.
Repeat similar process to create another topic for Spam complaints as well. Give Topic name as spam_complaint and display name as spam
Now, Select each topic and click on “Subscribe to topic” link from Actions button.
On the next screen. You will need to enter the “http endpoint URL” of your MailGet account to get the bounce and spam complains forwarded to your MailGet account.
To get the http endpoint MailGet account, click link below.
Add URL from “http endpoint for Bounce Amazon SNS” for Bounce complaints.
Add URL from “http endpoint for Spam Amazon SNS” for Spam complaints.
Note: Select HTTPS instead of HTTP from the Protocol Dropdown list.
Now Go to Subscriptions and confirm the pending confirmation.
Now go to SES from the AWS Console Management Dashboard again.
Choose Email Addresses and Edit Configuration of Bounce and Complaint Notifications SNS Topic by selecting the topics recently created.
The setup of your Amazon SES account to your MailGet account is now complete, you can use it to send emails through MailGet.
